Description
The Nitecore NU50 headlamp is lightweight, powerful and offers up to 1400 lumens of light output on its highest setting. It features two white LED headlights and a secondary red light equipped with an optical sensor that reduces the brightness to a low level if it detects an obstacle too close to the lamp.
Two high-power LED headlights emit an extremely bright 1400 lumen beam in turbo mode, which is designed as a boost setting. It allows for 30 seconds of operation at a time to prevent the lamp from overheating. High output is a constant 600 lumen setting that lasts for 11 hours, plus three other modes, two red outputs and two special modes.
To achieve a lightweight design, the NU50 has a special PC plastic housing on the back, which is solid, resistant to low temperatures, while the front housing is made of aluminum alloy and has high-efficiency heat dissipation. By using TrueVision+ technology and a unified optical lens system, the NU50 achieves high light transmission, reflecting a uniform and soft blend of directional light, reducing eye strain.
A smaller red LED is located in the center and provides a constant red light output or flashing, which can be directly used to maintain night vision. It is suitable for wildlife observation, map viewing, stargazing and night photography.
The updated headband features a wider 32mm diameter headband that is also hollowed out to reduce weight and increase breathability. It also features reflective features for increased visibility, while a wider silicone strip on the inside provides better grip and wicks sweat away from the eyes. The headlamp features a 72° adjustable mount, which differs from the traditional articulated mount in that it has a pivoting axis in the middle, allowing for easier and smoother adjustment and reducing pressure on the forehead and bottom edge of the mount.
Two push buttons are located on the top of the NU50, a larger power button and a smaller mode button. The power button turns the light on/off and changes the brightness. To access the white light, press the power button for one second to turn on in low mode. Each press of the power button will then cycle through low, medium, and high modes. Ultra-low brightness is accessed by double-pressing the power button when the light is off, while turbo is accessed by double-pressing the power button during operation, and will remain in turbo mode for 30 seconds or can be interrupted by pressing the power button early.
To switch between white and red modes when the light is on, press the mode button to toggle back and forth. When in red mode, each press of the power button toggles between solid red and flashing red modes. To access the red light directly, use the smaller mode button and hold it for one second in the off state. When the light is on in any mode, hold the power button or mode button for one second to turn the light off. Two special modes, SOS and flashing light, are available and can be accessed in any state by double-pressing the mode button, and once accessed, the power button will toggle between the two with each press. To exit the special modes, double-press the mode button to return to the previous output.
Four battery indicators are located on the bottom of the flashlight and will show the remaining battery power when you press the mode button once while the light is off. All four lights approximately mean 100%, three approximately 75%, two approximately 50% and one approximately 25%, and the light should be charged as soon as possible. To prevent accidental activation, there is also a lock function, which is activated by holding both buttons for 2 seconds until the white light flashes three times. To unlock, do the same and the light will turn on in ultra-low mode.
The Nitecore NU50 headlamp has a built-in 4000mAh lithium-ion battery that charges via a USB-C port on the side of the headlamp. You can expose the port by rotating the protective cover, then simply plug the included USB-C cable into the charging port and the other end into a suitable USB power source. The charging indicators on the top will flash one after the other before turning solid, and when all four indicators are solid, charging is complete after approximately 2 hours and thirty minutes using a 5V, 2A adapter.
